Andrew Palmer

Andrew Palmer was born in Hobart and began dancing at the age of 11. By 15, he had moved to Melbourne to gain access to Australia’s best DanceSport coaches. Since then, his career has taken him around the world both competing and performing.

Andrew toured the world with the renowned show “Burn the Floor” directed by Jason Gilkison and Peta Roby. He won numerous national and international titles and placed in the top 24 in the world at the Blackpool Dance Festival.

Andrew is a former professional dancer on Dancing With The Stars Australia where he partnered TV personality Nicky Buckley.

His dream was always to bring his expertise back to Tasmania so other young Dancers would not need to leave their family and home in order to achieve in this industry.

As a coach, Andrew has taken Tasmanian couples to Australian world representatives and Australian DanceSport champions.

Andrew has also starred as the lead role in the musical “Crazy For You” and in 2019 played starred as “Ken Railings” in the Tasmanian Premiere of Strictly Ballroom the musical.

Currently Andrew is the Chairman of DanceSport Tasmania, a National Director of both DanceSport Australia and the Australian Dancing Society, event organiser of the 7 Tasmania Open DanceSport Championship and part of the event organising team for the Australian DanceSport Championship.

Andrew’s passion has always been and continues to be sharing his love of dance with all Tasmanians.
